Show Me A Sign
Government cuts to adult education has seen many colleges lose funding. This has led to courses in BSL, Makaton, Deaf Awareness and others falling away. Show Me A Sign offers these courses in the Tees Valley area of North East England. All courses have a Signature (CACDP) accreditation and all our qualifications are recognised at a high level. Some classes and services offered are: BSL level 1, BSL level 2, Makaton, Deaf Awareness, Community Support Work, and Communication Support.
Qualifications up to level 2 are offered and you could progress up to fully registered communication professional status. Numerous career opportunities are available on a permanent or freelance basis. A qualified communication professional could earn over £35,000 per year.
Any of our courses could be delivered at your organisation. For more details, please use the Show Me A Sign contact form.
Our tutor will focus the training on the needs of your company ie. supermarkets may need their shop floor staff to be able to communicate and give information about food items, customer services may need to communicate about enquiries.
It may be that you sell cars and the sales staff will need to know signs relating to cars. The skills the reception staff will need to communicate effectively with customers will be different. Signs will be individualised to the needs of the company/learner.
There are about nine million deaf people in the UK and approximately 70,000 use BSL in their daily lives. Career opportunities for those who have a BSL qualification include: working as a BSL/English interpreter, teacher of deaf children, supporting deaf adults at college or university and communication support worker.
Show Me A Sign can help you to gain one of these qualifications to open up a whole new world of opportunities, with numerous career prospects and skills that are in demand.
